REALLY? I think to myself.
Standing next to him, waiting for the crosswalk signal to grace them with permission to cross, stood a young couple. Probably just trying to enjoy some time with each other before the small bump protruding from her belly gave them a gift. The young bride stood next to her husband, obviously trying to ignore the half naked man flinging him self around next to her.I couldn’t help but chuckle in my air conditioned car as I watched people’s reactions toward this man from all four corners of this fine intersection. It wasn’t my first time witnessing such an event, happens almost every day. Sometimes its booty shorts and sports bras, sometimes it’s fully clothed in sweat stained and even dripping attire and sometimes it was what I was witnessing today. I looked up the sidewalk where the man had to have just come from. The crowds were thick with what my husband calls ladybugs, the weather gets warm and ladybugs (people) come out of the woodwork to adorn the streets and shops of this touristy town.
He just ran through all those people.
Yeah, I have witnessed that aspect of these events too. The ladybugs always have a wide range of reactions - annoyed, grossed out, impressed, depending on a plethora of things I will let you figure out. Have any of these “runners” ever seen the sidewalks a block up from Main Street? They appear to be a perfect running mate, clean, clear and definitely no ladybugs to jog around, not to mention there are no lights to wait for, you can continue right on with your demanding jog. I understand running on main streets in a metropolitan area for safety reasons but a one street tourist town?
Just another day in paradise and interesting ride home.
