Problem accessing Chat

I can login and read or post on Message Board, however when select Chat - the program closes and everything goes back to my desktop. I have checked Internet Options and installed latest Java version, restored and checked my Internet connections. What is wrong? My IE is Verizon-Yahoo and it recently upgraded to IE 8 - is there an incapatibility issue with that upgrade?

Please let me know, I recently made some friends in LOL Chat room and now have no connection with them.

It started after leaving Chat Room on LOL the evening of 7/21 my logout stalled and then when tried to get back in to Chat the next evening the screen just fades back to my desktop - LOL goes away and IE signs off. Have Verizon High Speed (DSL) and ISP is Verizon/Yahoo. IE (Internet Explorer) recently upgraded me to IE 8 - not sure the full install was completed - checking into that.

Verizon came out and put my DSL on separate jack (I have also been experiencing "Sorry, Your Session is Expired" messages when accessing email)
I will try running a troubleshooting program on my system to see if any compatibility problems.

Checked Support in Internet Explorer and found reference to Winsock error - remember that message coming up when logging out (7/21) had MrFixIt run to correct any corruption of that file - did not fix my problem with chat. However that may give your techs a idea what could be causing this.

Well after several attempts and many interrupting Sorry your Session is Expired messages from my ISP an have fully upgraded to IE 8. Got in here okay - will try Chat in a few minutes and report back if unsuccessful.

Still cannot access Chat - it was blocked and IE could not restore me to LOL main page, had to go out and come back again. What is the problem and is there any solution?

Got it fixed! Had to remove Java from my system, then download and re-install the latest version. Looks like the older version had not be removed by the upgrade install and that caused error. MS did not know what to do - referred me to message boards. Got into Chat room tonight and had great time with friends who were glad to hear from me.
