You have my prayers, in fact, I have walked in your shoes. I recently moved to Tenn from Ga after 2.5 yrs of unemployment after 33 years of teaching. I was wrongly accused and lied about by a principal and it took the Ga Educ Assoc, 10.5 months of the school district dragging its feet, but I was totally vindicated. Unemployment is bad as ANY age, especially in this economy. I'm single, like you also. Its extra difficult when you don't have someone to help carry your burden of life or to have someone to hold you and encourage you. I wish you well at this trying time. Be open to change and new opportunities. After 2.5 years, I had the strength to leave Ga and visit some friends in Tenn, at a place I've dreamed of and loved with the mountains. I'm now teaching here PT, but in a place I love, teaching what I love. Life is still a little lonely, but life is brighter now. Hope I can be of some support to you, I know how important that can be. Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Being in finacinal woes, I might have the feelings of hopelessness that you feel lonelyfordtruck! I am in a rut myself!! I am luckly in that I do have a job, not a great one, but, I have one just the same!! I just had to ask my family for help too. And, by the grace of God, my brother and sister are helping me!!! They are getting me to a fresh start!! I am overwhelmed by this!! Totally!!!!! People within my support group have been praying for me, and I can't believe this!!!!! It will be a loan, and I will have my brother to pay to, instead of the quick check cashing places! My ex has helped too. Many prayers and thanks to the Lord and to my family!! So, to their credit, could you all give prayers to Caroline and Mark, and the rest of my family, too!! I pray for you too, and all of those who suffer, with the jobs going away, so fast!! Prayer and praise to our Heavenly Father, and to Jesus!! What a lovely Easter!! And, to TeachyPeach, I am sorry that I haven't emailed so that we could meet here in your new home, Tennessee! Welcome, and I am glad that you are settling in so well. I have written down your email, and I will email you soon! God is a awesome God!!!
I know the feeling. I was laid off at the end of Nov 2009. I have been laid off 5 times in my 28 year career. The longest I have been in any one job was 8.5 years. The worst part for me every time is uprooting and moving and starting all over again.
I have two interviews this week. The one job that will not require a move pays about 1/2 of the other one but I may take it anyway. There is more to life than money and since I am single I will just leave it behind anyway. Maybe to the Lord's work though.
I will send up a prayer for you. Keep the faith. The two best job boards I use are www.indeed.com and www.simplyhired.com They will keep track of your most recent visit for 5 keyword searches and post a tab with the number of new jobs since the last visit. That eliminates repeat viewing of postings. Plus, they post up for most of the major job boards all on one site.
Thanks everyone for having me in your prayers. Its been a week and a half since I've been laid off and nothing much of interviews yet to the 100 or so jobs I applied to online yet. To those that suggested on relocating I'm looking more into that as time goes on. My biggest problem on where to relocate too. I like the south east for the milder winters but the midwest will always be home since I'm origanly from there. I also been thinking of the rocky mountain region to a degree. But what ever happens God will help me through it and take me to some new location or just to a new job in my current location.
I'm in the Nashville area been doing electronics technicians work for the last 8 years. Mostly on TV's and other consumer products been trying to go more towards the computer side a couple places said i need to get more experience in computers before they would hire me. Now the old saying goes where do you get the experience if no one hires you and let you learn it. I got the degrees and field experience on other types of products but want to go more computer and IT but no luck as of yet.As that seems to be more stable as this has been my 2nd layoff in 2 years. Thanks to everyone and their prayers its hard to stay posative through all this but with the Lord it can be done.

What is the possibility for you to start doing this kind of job from your home? I know a guy (from my church), who left a vehicle repair company taking some of the customers with him. He is now an established and trusted motor mechanic (D.M. Motors) The good thing was that people knew he him already thus he quickly build a fixed clientèle all based on their experience with him at the company he was working at.
What do they say; every dark cloud has a silver lining. Maybe it's time for you to start your own business.
Starting my own buisness wouldbe a big task. I prefer to work for someone else and have benafits. But maybe i coulod do a little on the side here and there to make a little extra money. Well its been 5 weeks and still no luck on getting a job yet. But on the bright side I haven't had to tap into the savings yet but that will change in a couple weeks if i don't have a job by then or should I say a decent paying job close to what i was making.
I know exactly what you're going through. I went to college and got an associates and bachelors and couldn't find a job after a year of searching and then went back to school for another associates. I graduated last may and am still searching.
Good luck and I hope that things turn around for you and me both. Soon!
Well I hope things turn around for the both of us soon. With my current layoff I'm starting to think of going back to school, but will wait until I get some kind of employment whether it is in my filed or just a job that pays the bills.
Heavenly Father, Most Gracious and Loving God, I pray to you that you abundantly bless Lonelyfordtruck and the family of Artbarb. We know that you recognize, that a family is more than just a mother and father, sister and brother, husband and wife, but all who believe and trust in you. Father, we send up a prayer request for a financial blessings and a job where it is needed. Father I know that for you nothing is impossible, you just will it and it will happen. We thank you in advance for your blessings. Release your Godly Wisdom that we may be good stewards over all that GOD has called us to be in our job and the financial Blessings you gave us.
Father, for we know how wonderful and mighty you are and how if we just obey you and walk in your word and have the faith of a mustard seed that you will pour out blessings. We thank you now Lord ! for the recent blessings we've received and for the blessings yet to come because we know you are not done with us yet. In Jesus Name, I pray,
We need to remember to thank God in our sufferings!!! (without which, there would be no HOPE!)
And we[b] rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we[c] also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Thanks for your prayers everyone. I start a new job in the morning I still will need your prayers for something better. At least this job is better than what I was getting in unemployment but still short on what I need to pay all of my bills without having to tap into my savings. I'll take it one step at a time just have to be thankfull for the new job I start and hope a better one comes along soon.
I am glad to hear that you have a job!!! God has provided for me in alot of situations!! Hope that a better one will come along, however, a new job is great too!!! God and Jesus provides for those who love Him!! Praise be the Lord!!
You are one of many who have taken a job that is not exactly what they want, but will get them through. My son has done the same since he was let go from his job do to cutbacks.
There are companies that are hiring up here....but we do have some very cold and snowy winters...South Dakota.
I said when I got laid off from my job a few years back and have always said when I am in a tough place that " the Lord will provide" and he has. My prayers are with you, but while you have a job...you can still look for something that you may like better.
Take care and God Bless you in your search. He will provide.
Update well yesterday I got the bad news from the job I got back in mid May as they let me go. 2010 is just being a very bad year for me Lost 2 jobs this year one that I worked at for 2 years and now this one that I worked at for just 2 months.
I will certainly pray for you. As a widow, I was suddenly found without a job and found that God helped me through this and has continued to bless me. Though my pay is going to be cut soon, I do know what it is like to be without a job and will definitely pray for you. I'm sure God has some wonderful job in store for you, but His timing is never wrong.
Well a little update I will be having a 2nd Phone interview with a copmany tomarrow morning. I had one of the phone screen interviews last week. Right now this is the only good possability i have going on at the moment. If all goes well with the phone interview in the morning I probable be heading up to Peoria IL for a face to face interview in the next couple of weeks. So if all works out for the best I'll be moving soon from TN to IL. Just keep me in your prayers and that what is God's plan for me will bring me a job soon. Whether it up in IL or here in TN or anywhere in the southeast or midwest regions of the country.
Udate I started a temp job last week its better than unemployment but still not where I need to be but will hold me over for a while. Still need your prayers for a better job to come my way. I also got aproved for WIA Funding to get some certifacations somewhat related to my degree. Hopefully something better comes my way soon. Thanks again everyone for praying for me durring this tough time in my life.
You are not alone. The economy is failing due to the Govt sending jobs to china and mexico. Keep contact with friends, here, and at church, use your people skills, voice your fears. Remember that you also want to think positively that you will either be recalled to work or God will open a window for you when the door closed. I have faith good things will come your way. In the mean time do not panic. Make a list of your bills, go file for unemployment, what ever aid you are entitled to. Keep smiling, praying and good things will happen. regards Patti
Here it is a 3rd time in 2010 that I am out of a job. I'll be glad when this year is over. I'm still hanging in there try to stay in a up mood. But it is getting harder with my savings almost gone and back on unemployment once again. The temp place is trying to find me something else but so far no luck.
Up date I started another temp job its better than unemployment and it came at a good time as my 26 weeks were close to being up. I still need to get something much better soon and with better hours. I work what they call a 2nd shift but its not the tradtional 2nd shift of 3 to 11.It is a 10 hour shift from 4pm to 3am I need to get a day shift job so I can get normal sleep again.
Another update with more bad news. I got the call today from the latest temp agency I was working with on assignment that my assigment has ended due to lack of work. The last few jobs I had only last about 8 weeks and well this week I just ended was my 8th week with this last job.
