I know I can't compete with the fun poems she's shared over the years, but here goes nothing...

Ode to Darlene

She called herself MSisME
but there was so much more she turned out to be.

Newcomers she would always question
The chocolate fountain was her best suggestion

She positioned herself far from the smelly green couch
Her quick wit and humor showed all she was no slouch

My PIC and chief trouble maker
A Heyyou dollar? She was NEVER a taker

When Mel would try to pass out his turnips
She was always quick to purse her lips

The parties she hosted were always fine
Even when someone snuck in nanner wine

She said many things on many a night
But she never ever ever said Heyyou was ri***

With her health she faced many trials
But no matter what, each night she brought us smiles

Chocolate was her cure for every ailment under the sun
And instead of sorrow, she would want us to have fun.

She would not want us to cry
She would not want us to feel sorrow
But today I wish I had some of her strength to borrow.

In the chatroom there will be an empty space next to the chocolate fountain
But we can rejoice in knowing we will see her again

For now, at the feet of our Lord she sits
The best gift for our sister, oh yes, it befits.

Amen. Well done Joules.

I regret that I did not take the time to go meet her. I had planned to on the way up to one of the chatter gatherings, and didn't due to time. And now I regret it.

Don't put off showing people that they are important to you.

So sorry to hear this, but happy for Darlene.

It's been a long time since I romped in chat, and most of those fellow rompers have found other places to spend their time, but there WAS a Darlene who was a regular in chat back in the early 2000s, and she was from Enterprise, AL, but I think she moved before we lost touch with her. She was the only one in chat that knew exactly which "bowtie" Grumpy had bought. I thought he bought a necktie, but she knew it was a Chevy!

Does anyone know if this is the same Darlene?

I think you did a beautiful poem Joules. She would have liked that. What a bright shining star Darlene was to many. And she did let it shine didn't she?
MIght be a new one in the sky tonight...so I'll make a wish , and a prayer.

I couldn't have stated it better myself Joules. Darlene is up in Heaven with a smile on her face. You did a wonderful job and described Darlene exactly as she was, a beatiful, wonderful person....to everyone.

I have been away sick again and was saddened to hear of Darlene's passing. She and I had shared some "private chats" in chat room over our common illnesses and ways of coping with them. I will miss her love, caring, encouragement, and joy.

Darlene was a Rock in Chat, and will be missed.

God saved you Darlene! Now you finally have wireless for free AND Heaven, so have the best of both worlds!

I will miss you Darlene
