Duane and I celebrate 4 years today When I reminded him our anniversary was coming up, he had NO idea when it was. Not even the month. But he remembers now, and we are going somewhere for dinner; it's a surprise. Not bacon wrapped cheese stuffed hot dogs!
Best wishes and congratulations. May all your years together be blessed!
Mine was yesterday and my hubby also forgot...looked at me like I had two heads when I asked if he'd like to go to Olive Garden for dinner...I told him it's been the same date for 38 years now, he should at least get some inkling it's coming when we pass New Year's.
By the way, thanks to the generosity of hubby's cousin, he is in trucking school with several recruiters already visiting the school and a couple on the phone touting their offers. I guess there's a big need for semi drivers. He and cousin are going to be team drivers. We're not sure how well that will work out since we live on the west coast and cousin lives on the east coast but the trucking companies haven't batted an eyelast at the idea. Except for the long stretches he'll be gone, I guess things are looking a little. We'll see what happens in two weeks when he takes all his driving tests. Thanks for all the prayers!
Yeah Chalkie, so thankful he has found something! Truck drivers are in huge demand, and it's my husband's dream career. We bought a fifth wheel camper a few years back, and then he decided he needed a Freightliner to pull it. Actually, he does have good reasoning as far as that's concerned, but it was quite funny at the time. Our (ex) next door neighbors sell horse tack at shows all over the country, and pull their fifth wheel with a semi, so I teased Duane that he had to keep up with the White's. The funny part was, he had no idea how to drive one, and he bought one, sight unseen from an Old Dominion place in TN, and took our neighbor down there with him to go pick it up and drive it home. It took him about three months to get the hang of shifting; it's nothing like driving a stick shift car. He finally got it, and sits proudly up there looking like a real truck driver The LOL chatters we met in Milwaukee last year can attest to that, as we pulled our camper up there.
His reasoning was, the semi cost less than a third of what our Dodge diesel pickup did, it's safer to pull the camper with it, and doesn't even know it's back there, where the Dodge will buck and strain on every little hill. And it gets pretty much the same fuel mileage the pickup does pulling the camper. It's licensed as a recreational vehicle, so insurance and tax isn't very much.
The first year we had it, we drove to Nebraska with it, our first long trip. We took a wrong turn, and ended up at the state fairgrounds in Lincoln, during state fair time. Needless to say he was pretty stressed being lost in all that traffic! But he did great
He enjoys just going out and just going for a ride every once in a while, to feel like he's a trucker His midlife crisis I suppose
And happy anniversary to your and your sweetie too! 38 years is certainly something to celebrate!
Chalkie, I am so happy to hear that. God does answer prayer but in His own time. I think we would have all sweat a little less if He had answered a little sooner but only He knows His reasons. I know a husband and wife who are team drivers and also have a friend whose team driver was her dad. Perhaps there will be a new career for you down the road. Or at least the chance to ride along on some good trips.

Unfortunately my health issues would keep me from being a truck driver but he has mentioned me riding along on a trip or two. His cousin, who got him started on this, wants his wife to join him in a couple of years. I told hubby I don't mind him team driving with his cousin but I wouldn't like it much if he was driving alone just starting out.
When I first saw the Title, I wondered what anniversary was it I missed, then I realized you weren't talking about me.
I can't forget my anniversary. We got married on 1 April 1978. We first met the Easter a year before that. Our first child was born in March 1979, proving at least for us the first baby took nine months. Second baby, November 81. Third Baby, August 83. Fourth Baby September 88, Just don't ask for specific dates, though.
