Freeform Pages using FTP

I've found Freeform pages near the end of last year and love it -- I'm able to edit pages a LOT easier using HTML rather than the system you have set up.

Today I go to create a new freeform page and find this notice on the page:

Note: You will no longer be able to upload files to your site via FTP after 2/15/12.

Is there some reason that we can no longer use FTP to access our sites? Are freeform pages going to disappear at some point, or do we have to use the "browse" to find the pages to update now?

Any information, or pointers to where this information was posted, would be appreciated. I've searched all the forums since 1/1/2011 for "freeform" and see no information. Should I be subscribed to some other information source to find changes like this?

Greetings,

This change doesn't impact the ability to add new Freeform content to the websites or to update the existing files. You still will have the ability to upload the files using the Lutherans Online Freeform administration page. You can also edit the files directly on lutherans online by clicking edit on the file and making changes to the HTML code or pasting the code generated by your local program.

Please Let us know if you have any further questions on this matter.

Thanks for the information.

Is there somewhere I should be subscribed to to find out about changes such as this?

Also, is there a reason the FTP access was removed? I found it very convenient. Yes, it can be edited online now, but it's several more steps to cut and paste the changes to the pages into the edit window.

Is there any way the "DONE" button at the end of the page you get to when you click "Edit Page" on a freeform page can be duplicated at the top? Having to scroll all the way down to the bottom when you are finished making changes is an inconvenience that could be easily fixed.

Greetings Norm,

The low usage made the service hard to justify the high costs of maintaining the service.

I will add your suggestion for to the list for our developers to look as a future update. The Web News will highlight features of Lutherans Online but not always the changes. I will also bring this up with our developers to see if there is another way of communicating this information to website Administrators.

Please let us know if we can assist you further.
