I have. I guess what it said to me is something that I have often seen in life long before they made all this melodrama over the concept, but that if you focus on something with all you have, you really do bring it closer to yourself. I don't think of it in terms of magic or miraculous, but merely if we dream and focus on something so continuously, you can't help but make all the things you do each day, lead in it's direction. Much like living a Christ centered life. Surround youself with God and Godly passions, reading scripture, singing the hymns, fellowshipping with like minded folks, reaching out to others in need, filling your heart with prayer and your life pretty much becomes Christ centered by osmosis. I think if we start with Christ, we can make our lives pretty much whatever we want them to become with those things being second in line as a focus. It's not magic, it's common sense and physics.
Look a little deeper in the book thread, it seems to me that someone started a thread on this book once upon a time...?

I figure since so many are reading these books (as a fad book), I'm going to read it and comment on what I've found.

The basic message is, "keep your eyes on the prize". I can almost guarantee that you'll not like the flavor of this one, S, but good to keep oneself informed.

I read the book today and concluded that Sandy is correct-I did not like it. Now I will say that it is much more than some book on positive thinking. It is a New Age, pagan book on tapping into the "divine self" and connecting with some natural current of power that flows throughout the universe that will give you whatever you desire. I found this author to be intellectually dishonest when she would cite famous figures from history, claiming that they knew "the Secret." This secret, she claims, will bring you limitless joy and material gain-if you only buy into what she says and believe really, really hard that you'll get what you wish for.
Byrne claims that if you positively thinking and desire something long enough, you'll get it. If you want to be rich, you'll get rich. If you want an attractive wife, flashy house and car, then you're desires will come true.

"We are all connected, and we are all part of the One Energy Field, or the One Supreme Mind , or the One Consciousness" pg 162
"It is not people who are giving you the things you desire. If you hold that false belief, you will experience lack, because you are looking at the outside world and people as the supply. The true supply is the invisible field, whether you call the Universe, the Supreme Mind, God, Infinite Intelligence, or whatever else. Wherever you receive anything, remember that you attracted it to you by the law of attraction, and by being on the frequency and in harmony with the Universal Supply" pg 164

""Scripturally we could say that we re the image and the likeness of God. We could say we are another way that the Universe is becoming conscious of itself. We could say that we are the infinite field of unfolding possibility. All of that would be true...
You are God in a physical body. You are Spirit in the flesh. You are Eternal Life expressing itself as You. You are a cosmic being. You are all power. You are all wisdom. You are all intelligence. You are perfection...You are the creator, and you are creating the creation of You on this planet" pg. 164

So, this book is a must for spiritual discernment. This author and the various people associated with this project are liars. The secret that they claim to know is no secret at all. It is the devil getting people to trust in themselves and to recreate God in their own image. This we know (contrary to the author's beliefs) and thes are not secrets

1. We are not gods
2. We look to God for providing us our daily bread
3. There is no cosmic power that enables us to have all that we desire, fame, wealth, power insofar as that we visualize what it is that we want
4. We are not an expression of eternal life, Jesus is eternal Life.

For the thinking, Bible believing Christian, this book is not recommended and people should be warned about its contents.

When it first came out, a friend was extremely excited about it and gave it to my husband to read (he does NOT like to read). I read it and he took it back. They gave him a DVD to watch. It was so goofy! He asked me what I thought and I told him, "They repackage all of this every so many years...Transcendental Meditation, crystals, pyramids, ...it's all the same thing."

Sad to say, as you pointed out, it's just a repackaging of the same old satanic lies. But then again, perhaps the book is good, afterall, it came so highly praised by Oprah.....:)
